Tips for making a claim

Auto insurance claim

  • Call the police.
  • Document the incident in writing, including:
    • Date and time of incident;
    • Location where incident occurred;
    • Weather and road conditions at time of incident;
    • Chain of events and actions of all parties involved;
    • Contact information of all parties involved - name, address, phone number, insurance company and policy number, license plate number.
  • Make a list of damages incurred, including pictures taken at the scene, if possible.
  • Call your insurance broker at Théorêt & Martel for assistance with filing your claim.

Home insurance claim

  • For burglary or fire, call the police or fire department, if needed.
  • Document the incident in writing, including:
    • Date and time of incident;
    • Incident details - what happened.
  • Make a list of damages incurred or stolen property, including pictures if possible.
  • Call your insurance broker at Théorêt & Martel for assistance with filing your claim for burglary or fire.
  • For other types of incidents (windstorm, hail, vandalism, water damage) regarding your home insurance, contact your broker or the insurance company directly.

Making an emergency claim after hours or on weekends

  • Call your insurance company directly.
  • Provide your policy number and incident details.
